tests: redo test argv file line wrapping Back in commit bd6c46fa0cfe275c24debc1152cfc5206c04b59b Author: Juerg Haefliger <juerg.haefliger@hp.com> Date: Mon Jan 31 06:42:57 2011 -0500 tests: handle backspace-newline pairs in test input files all the test argv files were line wrapped so that the args were less than 80 characters. The way the line wrapping was done turns out to be quite undesirable, because it often leaves multiple parameters on the same line. If we later need to add or remove individual parameters, then it leaves us having to redo line wrapping. This commit changes the line wrapping so that every single "-param value" is one its own new line. If the "value" is still too long, then we break on ',' or ':' or ' ' as needed. This means that when we come to add / remove parameters from the test files line, the patch diffs will only ever show a single line added/removed which will greatly simplify review work. qemu: command: Override HOME variable for system QEMU By default, qemu user's home dir points to '/' which shouldn't be used at all. We therefore pass the HOME variable from the current variable iff not running as SUID, which means that for systemd we never set it. qemu: Enforce ACPI, UEFI requirements Depending on the architecture, requirements for ACPI and UEFI can be different; more specifically, while on x86 UEFI requires ACPI, on aarch64 it's the other way around. Enforce these requirements when validating the domain, and make the error message more accurate by mentioning that they're not necessarily applicable to all architectures. Several aarch64 test cases had to be tweaked because they would have failed the validation step otherwise.

conf: allow use of slot 0 in a dmi-to-pci-bridge When support for dmi-to-pci-bridge was added, it was assumed that, just as with the pci-root bus, slot 0 was reserved. This is not the case - it can be used to connect a device just like any other slot, so remove the restriction and update the test cases that auto-assign an address on a dmi-to-pci-bridge.

qemu: Permit PCI-free aarch64 mach-virt guests There has been some progress lately in enabling virtio-pci on aarch64 guests; however, guest OS support is still spotty at best, so most guests are going to be using virtio-mmio instead. Currently, mach-virt guests are closely modeled after q35 guests, and that includes always adding a dmi-to-pci-bridge that's just impossible to get rid of. While that's acceptable (if suboptimal) for q35, where you will always need some kind of PCI device anyway, mach-virt guests should be allowed to avoid it.

qemu: Specify format= iff disk source is not empty Just recently, qemu forbade specifying format for sourceless disks (qemu commit 39c4ae941ed992a3bb5). It kind of makes sense. If there's no file to open, why specify its format. Anyway, I have a domain like this: <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw'/> <target dev='hda' bus='ide'/> <readonly/> <address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/> </disk> and obviously I am unable to start it.
