In a few places we declare a variable (which is optionally
followed by a code not touching it) then set the variable to a
value and return the variable immediately. It's obvious that the
variable is needless and the value can be returned directly
instead.
This patch was generated using this semantic patch:

After that I fixed couple of formatting issues because coccinelle

Historically, we declared pointer type to our types:
typedef struct _virXXX virXXX;
typedef virXXX *virXXXPtr;
But usefulness of such declaration is questionable, at best.
Unfortunately, we can't drop every such declaration - we have to
carry some over, because they are part of public API (e.g.
virDomainPtr). But for internal types - we can do drop them and
use what every other C project uses 'virXXX *'.
This change was generated by a very ugly shell script that
generated sed script which was then called over each file in the

By making use of GNU C's cleanup attribute handled by the
VIR_AUTOFREE macro for declaring scalar variables, majority
of the VIR_FREE calls can be dropped, which in turn leads to
getting rid of most of our cleanup sections.

Replace the error message during startup of libvirtd with an info
message if audit_level < 2 and audit is not supported by the
kernel. Audit is not supported by the current kernel if the kernel
does not have audit compiled in or if audit is disabled (e.g. by the
kernel cmdline).

In "src/util/" there are many enumeration (enum) declarations.
Sometimes, it's better using a typedef for variable types,
function types and other usages. Other enumeration will be
changed to typedef's in the future.

Any source file which calls the logging APIs now needs
to have a VIR_LOG_INIT("source.name") declaration at
the start of the file. This provides a static variable
of the virLogSource type.

As part of the goal to get away from doing string matching on
filenames when deciding whether to emit a log message, turn
the virLogSource enum into a struct which contains a log
"name". There will eventually be one virLogSource instance
statically declared per source file. To minimise churn in this
commit though, a single global instance is used.

The source code base needs to be adapted as well. Some files
include virutil.h just for the string related functions (here,
the include is substituted to match the new file), some include
virutil.h without any need (here, the include is removed), and
some require both.

will be used later.
The metadata representation is as minimal as possible, but requires
the caller to allocate an array on stack explicitly.
The alternative of using varargs in the virLogMessage() callers:
* Would not allow the caller to optionally omit some metadata elements,
except by having two calls to virLogMessage.
* Would not be as type-safe (e.g. using int vs. size_t), and the compiler
wouldn't be able to do type checking
* Depending on parameter order:
a) virLogMessage(..., message format, message params...,
metadata..., NULL)
can not be portably implemented (parse_printf_format() is a glibc
function)
b) virLogMessage(..., metadata..., NULL,
message format, message params...)
would prevent usage of ATTRIBUTE_FMT_PRINTF and the associated
compiler checking.

values now that the filename has been separated. Turn this
parameter into an enum instead.

Currently the logging APIs have a 'const char *category' parameter
which indicates where the log message comes from. This is typically
a combination of the __FILE__ string and other prefix. Split the
__FILE__ off into a dedicated parameter so it can passed to the
log outputs
