Historically, we declared pointer type to our types:
typedef struct _virXXX virXXX;
typedef virXXX *virXXXPtr;
But usefulness of such declaration is questionable, at best.
Unfortunately, we can't drop every such declaration - we have to
carry some over, because they are part of public API (e.g.
virDomainPtr). But for internal types - we can do drop them and
use what every other C project uses 'virXXX *'.
This change was generated by a very ugly shell script that
generated sed script which was then called over each file in the

Currently, we are mixing: #if HAVE_BLAH with #if WITH_BLAH.
Things got way better with Pavel's work on meson, but apparently,
mixing these two lead to confusing and easy to miss bugs (see
31fb929eca for instance). While we were forced to use HAVE_
prefix with autotools, we are free to chose our own prefix with
meson and since WITH_ prefix appears to be more popular let's use
it everywhere.

Historically, this file was a dump for most of our helper
functions and needed almost everywhere.
With the introduction of virfile.h and virstring.h,
and more importantly, virenum.h and the introduction
of GLib, that is no longer true.
Remove its include from C files that don't even use it.

In preparation libtool "-module" flag removal, add lib prefix to all
mock shared objects.
While at it, introduce VIR_TEST_MOCK macros that makes path out of mock
name to be used with VIR_TEST_PRELOAD or VIR_TEST_MAIN_PRELOAD. That,
hopefully, improves readability, reduces line length and allows to
tailor VIR_TEST_MOCK for specific platform if it has shared library
suffix different from ".so".

In many files there are header comments that contain an Author:
statement, supposedly reflecting who originally wrote the code.
In a large collaborative project like libvirt, any non-trivial
file will have been modified by a large number of different
contributors. IOW, the Author: comments are quickly out of date,
omitting people who have made significant contribitions.
In some places Author: lines have been added despite the person
merely being responsible for creating the file by moving existing
code out of another file. IOW, the Author: lines give an incorrect
record of authorship.
With this all in mind, the comments are useless as a means to identify
who to talk to about code in a particular file. Contributors will always
be better off using 'git log' and 'git blame' if they need to find the
author of a particular bit of code.
This commit thus deletes all Author: comments from the source and adds
a rule to prevent them reappearing.
The Copyright headers are similarly misleading and inaccurate, however,
we cannot delete these as they have legal meaning, despite being largely
inaccurate. In addition only the copyright holder is permitted to change
their respective copyright statement.

All of the ones being removed are pulled in by internal.h. The only
exception is sanlock which expects the application to include <stdint.h>
before sanlock's headers, because sanlock prototypes use fixed width
int, but they don't include stdint.h themselves, so we have to leave
that one in place.

Host tcp4/tcp6 ports is a global resource thus we need to make
port accounting also global or we have issues described in [1] when
port allocator ranges of different instances are overlapped (which
is by default for qemu for example).
Let's have only one global port allocator object that take care
of the entire ports range (0 - 65535) and introduce port range object
for clients to specify desired auto allocation band.

After the rework of mocking of our tests there's the
virportallocator test failing to link on mingw. Well, it's the
mocking library actually:

mingw32 defines it. Lets put aside for a while fact that it has
the same value as RTLD_DEFAULT which by description has different
meaning, shall we?

The virportallocatortest.c file is compiled both as a test case
and as a mock library; in the latter case, it can't use
VIR_FORCE_CLOSE() because mock libraries are not linked against
libvirt.
Replace VIR_FORCE_CLOSE() with plain close() to solve the issue.
Mock libraries are not built with testutils.c, but there's one which
uses VIR_TEST_DEBUG. But because that debug should be an error, if we
change it, then it will not only be more semantically correct, but mingw
compiler will be happier as well.
It also follows suit with all other mock libraries.
For few other things, used in this file, need libvirt.la to be added
into LIBADD for mingw as well.

C guarantees that static variables are zero-initialized. Some older
compilers (and also gcc -fno-zero-initialized-in-bss) create larger
binaries if you explicitly zero-initialize a static variable.

Test suites using the port allocator don't want to have different
behaviour depending on whether a port is in use on the host. Add
a VIR_PORT_ALLOCATOR_SKIP_BIND_CHECK which test suites can use
to skip the bind() test. The port allocator will thus only track
ports in use by the test suite process itself. This is fine when
using the port allocator to generate guest configs which won't
actually be launched

Any source file which calls the logging APIs now needs
to have a VIR_LOG_INIT("source.name") declaration at
the start of the file. This provides a static variable
of the virLogSource type.

Commit a1cbe4b5 added a check for spaces around assignments and this
patch extends it to checks for spaces around '=='. One exception is
virAssertCmpInt where comma after '==' is acceptable (since it is a
macro and '==' is its argument).

Cygwin supports <dlfcn.h> and even has limited LD_PRELOAD
capabilities; but because it does not use ELF binaries it
cannot support RTLD_NEXT lookups.

Also try to bind on IPv6 to check if the port is occupied.
Change the mocked bind in the test to return EADDRINUSE
for some ports only for the IPv4/IPv6 socket if we're testing
on a host with IPv6 compiled in.
Also mock socket() to make it fail with EAFNOTSUPPORTED
if LIBVIRT_TEST_IPV4ONLY is set in the environment, to
simulate a host without IPv6 support in the kernel. The
tests are repeated again with this variable set.

Report the error in virPortAllocatorAcquire instead
of doing it in every caller.
The error contains the port range name instead of the intended
use for the port, e.g.:
Unable to find an unused port in range 'display' (65534-65535)
instead of:
Unable to find an unused port for SPICE
This also adds error reporting when the QEMU driver could not
find an unused port for VNC, VNC WebSockets or NBD migration.
The test case average timing code has not been used by any test
case ever. Delete it to remove complexity.

These all existed before virfile.c was created, and for some reason
weren't moved.
This is mostly straightfoward, although the syntax rule prohibiting
write() had to be changed to have an exception for virfile.c instead
of virutil.c.
This movement pointed out that there is a function called
virBuildPath(), and another almost identical function called
virFileBuildPath(). They really should be a single function, which
I'll take care of as soon as I figure out what the arglist should look
like.
The source code base needs to be adapted as well. Some files
include virutil.h just for the string related functions (here,
the include is substituted to match the new file), some include
virutil.h without any need (here, the include is removed), and
some require both.

A build on FreeBSD failed with:

It turns out that while POSIX allows sockaddr_in to leak in through
<arpa/inet.h> (the way Linux does it), it is not mandatory, and
conforming applications are required to get it through <netinet/in.h>.

* tests/virportallocatortest.c: Likewise.
The QEMU driver default max port is 65535, but it then increments
this by 1 to 65536. This maps to 0 in an unsigned short :-( This
was apparently done so that for() loops could use "< max" instead
of "<= max". Remove this insanity and just make the loop do the
right thing.
