Prepare for introducing a bunch of new public APIs related to
backup checkpoints by first introducing a new internal type
and errors associated with that type. Checkpoints are modeled
heavily after virDomainSnapshotPtr (both represent a point in
time of the guest), although a snapshot exists with the intent
of rolling back to that state, while a checkpoint exists to
make it possible to create an incremental backup at a later
time.

Now that we have made virDomainMomentObj sufficiently generic to
support both snapshots and checkpoints, it is time to rename the file
that it lives in. The split between a generic object and a list of the
generic objects doesn't buy us as much, so it will be easier to stick
all the moment list code in one file, with more code moving in the
next patch. The changes during the move are fairly minor, although it
is worth pointing out that the log/error messages for the new file
report that they are from "domain", since the file will eventually be
shared by both "domain snapshot" and "domain checkpoint".

shared with upcoming checkpoint code, it is time to rename the struct
and the functions specific to list operations. A later patch will
shuffle which file holds the common code. This is a fairly mechanical

Rather than allowing a leaky abstraction where multiple drivers have
to open-code operations that update the relations in a
virDomainSnapshotObjList, it is better to add accessor functions so
that updates to relations are maintained closer to the internals.
This patch finishes the job started in the previous patch, by getting
rid of all direct access to nchildren, first_child, or sibling outside
of the lowest level functions, making it easier to refactor later on.
The lone new caller to virDomainSnapshotObjListSize() checks for a
return != 0, because it wants to handles errors (-1, only possible if
the hash table wasn't allocated) and existing snapshots (> 0) in the
same manner; we can drop the check for a current snapshot on the
grounds that there shouldn't be one if there are no snapshots.

This patch starts the task with a single new function:
virDomainSnapshotMoveChildren(). The logic might not be immediately
obvious [okay, that's an understatement - the existing code uses black
magic ;-)], so here's an overview: The old code has an implicit for
loop around each call to qemuDomainSnapshotReparentChildren() by using
virDomainSnapshotForEachChild() (you'll need a wider context than
git's default of 3 lines to see that); the new code has a more visible
for loop. Then it helps if you realize that the code is making two
separate changes to each child object: STRDUP of the new parent name
prior to writing XML files (unchanged), and touching up the pointer to
the parent object (refactored); the end result is the same whether a
single pass made both changes (both in driver code), or whether it is
split into two passes making one change each (one in driver code, the
other in the new accessor).

It is easier to track the current snapshot as part of the list of
snapshots. In particular, doing so lets us guarantee that the current
snapshot is cleared if that snapshot is removed from the list (rather
than depending on the caller to do so, and risking a use-after-free
problem, such as the one recently patched in 1db9d0efbf). This
requires the addition of several new accessor functions, as well as a
useful return type for virDomainSnapshotObjListRemove(). A few error
handling sites that were previously setting vm->current_snapshot =
NULL can now be dropped, because the previous function call has now
done it already. Also, qemuDomainRevertToSnapshot() was setting the
current vm twice, so keep only the one used on the success path.

When trying to create a nwfilter binding via
nwfilterBindingCreateXML() we may encounter a crash. The sequence
of functions called is as follows:
1) nwfilterBindingCreateXML() parses the XML and calls
virNWFilterBindingObjListAdd() which calls
virNWFilterBindingObjListAddLocked()
2) Here, @binding is not found because binding->remove is set.
3) Therefore, controls continue with creating new @binding,
setting its def to the one from 1) and adding it to the hash
table.
4) This fails, because the binding is still in the hash table
(duplicate key is detected).
5) The control jumps to 'error' label where
virNWFilterBindingObjEndAPI() is called which frees the binding
definition passed.
6) Error is propagated to the caller, which calls
virNWFilterBindingDefFree() over the definition again.
The solution is to unset binding->def in case of failure so it's
not freed in step 5).

The new 'refresh' element can override the default refresh operations
for a storage pool. The only currently supported override is to set
the volume allocation size to the volume capacity. This can be specified
by adding the following snippet:
<pool>
...
<refresh>
<volume allocation='capacity'/>
</refresh>
...
</pool>
This is useful for certain backends where computing the actual allocation
of a volume might be an expensive operation.

snapshot_conf.h was mixing three separate types: the snapshot
definition, the snapshot object, and the snapshot object list.
Separate out the snapshot object list code into its own file, and
update includes for affected clients.
This is just code motion, but done in preparation of sharing a lot of
the object list code with checkpoints.

Some modules/libraries within QEMU could make use of the XDG_ vars when
writing their data to the disk. Define the most common XDG variables
and point them to the specific driver's libDir, i.e.
XDG_CACHE_HOME -> /var/lib/libvirt/<driver>/.cache
XDG_DATA_HOME -> /var/lib/libvirt/<driver>/.local/share
XDG_CONFIG_HOME -> /var/lib/libvirt/<driver>/.config

The idea is that using this attribute users enable libvirt to
automagically select firmware image for their domain. For
instance:

I know it is a good sign to introduce xml2xml test case when
changing XML config parser but that will have to come later.
Firmware auto selection is not enabled for any driver just yet so
any xml2xml test would fail right away.

Add a new function to make it possible to parse a list of snapshots
at once. This is a counterpart to an earlier patch making it
possible to produce all snapshots in a single XML string, and
intentionally parses the same top-level element <snapshots> with
an optional attribute current='name'.
Note that since we know we started with no relations at all, and
since checking parent relationships per-snapshot is not viable as
we don't control which order the snapshots appear in, that we are
fine with doing a final pass to update all parent/child
relationships among the definitions.

virDomainSnapshotDefFormat currently takes two sets of knobs:
an 'unsigned int flags' argument that can currently just be
VIR_DOMAIN_DEF_FORMAT_SECURE, and an 'int internal' argument used as
a bool to determine whether to output an additional element. It
then reuses the 'flags' knob to call into virDomainDefFormatInternal(),
which takes a different set of flags. In fact, prior to commit 0ecd6851
(1.2.12), the 'flags' argument actually took the public
VIR_DOMAIN_XML_SECURE, which was even more confusing. Let's borrow
from the style of that earlier commit, by introducing a function
for translating from the public flags (VIR_DOMAIN_SNAPSHOT_XML_SECURE
was just recently introduced) into a new enum specific to snapshot
formatting, and adjust all callers to use snapshot-specific enum
values when formatting, and where the formatter now uses a new
variable 'domainflags' to make it obvious when we are translating
from snapshot flags back to domain flags. We don't even have to
use the conversion function for drivers that don't accept the
public VIR_DOMAIN_SNAPSHOT_XML_SECURE flag.

qemu vhost-scsi devices map to XML roughly like:

To support vhost-scsi-pci-{non-}traditional in qemu, we
need to to extend the SCSI Host hostdev XML to handle
model= value. This matches the XML model= format used
for mediated devices. This is just the domain_conf bits
and some XML test cases.
Use of virtio-X naming here does not match the hostdev
protocol=vhost nor does it match the qemu vhost-X device
naming, however it's more consistent with all other
model= names in this area, and also matches the
inconsistency of <vsock> devices which use model=virtio
but map to vhost-vsock on the qemu commandline

<disk> devices lack the model= attribute which is used by
most other device types. bus= mostly acts as one, but it
serves other purposes too like determing what target=
prefix to use, and for matching against controller type=
values.
Extending bus= to handle additional virtio transitional
devices will complicate apps lives, and it isn't a clean
mapping anyways. So let's bite the bullet and add a new
<disk model=X/> attribute, and wire up common handling
for virtio and virtio-{non-}transitional

Quite a few parts modify the XPath context current node to shift the
scope and allow easier queries. This also means that the node needs
to be restored afterwards.
Introduce a macro based on 'VIR_AUTOCLEAN' which adds a local structure
on the stack remembering the original node along with a function which
will make sure that the node is reset when the local structure leaves
scope.

So far the virInitctlSetRunLevel() is fully automatic. It finds
the correct fifo to use to talk to the init and it will set the
desired runlevel. Well, callers (so far there is just one) will
need to inspect the fifo a bit just before the runlevel is set.
Therefore, expose the internal list of fifos and also allow
caller to explicitly use one.

virFirewallDGetBackend() reports whether firewalld is currently using
an iptables or an nftables backend.
virFirewallDGetVersion() learns the version of the firewalld running
on this system and returns it as 1000000*major + 1000*minor + micro.
virFirewallDGetZones() gets a list of all currently active firewalld
zones.
virFirewallDInterfaceSetZone() sets the firewalld zone of the given
interface.
virFirewallDZoneExists() can be used to learn whether or not a
particular zone is present and active in firewalld.

The vHBA/NPIV LUNs created via the udev processing of the
VPORT_CREATE command end up using the same serial value
as seen/generated by the /lib/udev/scsi_id as returned
during virStorageFileGetSCSIKey. Therefore, in order to
generate a unique enough key to be used when adding the
LUN as a volume during virStoragePoolObjAddVol a more
unique key needs to be generated for an NPIV volume.
The problem is illustrated by the following example, where
scsi_host5 is a vHBA used with the following LUNs:

Note that althrough /dev/sdh and /dev/sdi are separate LUNs, they
end up with the same serial number used for the vol->key value.
When virStoragePoolFCRefreshThread calls virStoragePoolObjAddVol
the second LUN fails to be added with the following message
getting logged:
virHashAddOrUpdateEntry:341 : internal error: Duplicate key
To resolve this, virStorageFileGetNPIVKey will use a similar call
sequence as virStorageFileGetSCSIKey, except that it will add the
"--export" option to the call. This results in more detailed output
which needs to be parsed in order to formulate a unique enough key
to be used. In order to be unique enough, the returned value will
concatenate the target port as returned in the "ID_TARGET_PORT"
field from the command to the "ID_SERIAL" value.

Introduce the infrastructure necessary to manage a Storage Pool XML
Namespace. The general concept is similar to virDomainXMLNamespace,
except that for Storage Pools the storage backend specific details
can be stored within the _virStoragePoolOptions unlike the domain
processing code which manages its xmlopt's via the virDomainXMLOption
which is allocated/passed around for each domain.
This patch defines the add the parse, format, free, and href methods
required to process the XML and callout from the Storage Pool Def
parse, format, and free API's to perform the action on the XML data
for/from the backend.

Historically firewall rules for virtual networks were added straight
into the base chains. This works but has a number of bugs and design
limitations:
- It is inflexible for admins wanting to add extra rules ahead
of libvirt's rules, via hook scripts.
- It is not clear to the admin that the rules were created by
libvirt
- Each rule must be deleted by libvirt individually since they
are all directly in the builtin chains
- The ordering of rules in the forward chain is incorrect
when multiple networks are created, allowing traffic to
mistakenly flow between networks in one direction.
To address all of these problems, libvirt needs to move to creating
rules in its own private chains. In the top level builtin chains,
libvirt will add links to its own private top level chains.
Addressing the traffic ordering bug requires some extra steps. With
everything going into the FORWARD chain there was interleaving of rules
for outbound traffic and inbound traffic for each network:

The rule allowing outbound traffic from virbr1 would mistakenly
allow packets from virbr1 to virbr0, before the rule denying input
to virbr0 gets a chance to run.
What we really need todo is group the forwarding rules into three
distinct sets:

This is the first step towards libvirt picking the first available
render node instead of QEMU. It also makes sense for us to be able to do
that, since we allow specifying the node directly for SPICE, so if
there's no render node specified by the user, we should pick the first
available one. The algorithm used for that is essentially the same as
the one QEMU uses.

The call of virResctrlMonitorGetStats will allocate the memory for
holding cache occupancy or memory bandwidth statistics.
This patch adds the function virResctrlMonitorFreeStats as the
opposing action of virResctrlMonitorGetStats to free the memory.

This patch adds new functions for reservation, assignment and release
to handle the uid/fid. If the uid/fid is defined in the domain XML,
they will be reserved directly in the collecting phase. If any of them
is not defined, we will find out an available value for them from the
zPCI address hashtable, and reserve them. For the hotplug case there
might not be a zPCI definition. So allocate and reserve uid/fid the
case. Assign if needed and reserve uid/fid for the defined case.

This patch introduces new XML parser/formatter functions. Uid is
16-bit and non-zero. Fid is 32-bit. They are the two attributes of zpci
which is introduced as PCI address element. Zpci element is parsed and
formatted along with PCI address. And add the related test cases.

There's a lot of stuff going on in src/conf/nodedev_conf which is
sometimes not directly related to config and we're not really consistent
with putting only parser/formatter related stuff here, e.g. like we do
for domains. So, let's start simply by adding a new module
node_device_util containing some of the helpers. Unfortunately, even
though these helpers tend to open a secondary driver connection and would
be much therefore better suited as a nodedev driver module, we can't do
that without pulling headers from the driver into conf/ and that's wrong
because we want conf/ to stay driver-agnostic.

Place cgroup v2 backend type before cgroup v1 to make it obvious
that cgroup v2 is preferred implementation.
Following patches will introduce support for hybrid configuration
which will allow us to use both at the same time, but we should
prefer cgroup v2 regardless.

This will be required once cgroup v2 is introduced. The cgroup
detection is not simple and we will have multiple backends so we
should not just jump into the middle of the detection code.
In order to use virCgroupNewSelf we need to create all the remaining
data files:
- {name}.cgroups represents /proc/cgroups, it is a list of cgroup
controllers compiled into kernel
- {name}.self.cgroup represents /proc/self/cgroup, it describes
cgroups to which the process belongs
For "no-cgroups" we need to modify the expected behavior because
virCgroupNewSelf() will fail if there are no controllers available.

This patch is introducing cache monitor(CMT) to cache and
memory bandwidth monitor(MBM) for monitoring CPU memory
bandwidth.

The function is called on a virDomainDeviceInfo, so it

Moving this function requires moving and making public
virDomainDeviceCCWAddressIsValid() as well, but that's
perfectly fine since the same reasoning above also

Even though we do some checking it is not as thorough as it
should be. We already have virStoragePoolObjIsDuplicate but the
way we use it is a typical TOCTOU. Imagine two threads trying to
define two pools with the same name but different UUIDs. With the
current code neither of them finds a duplicate and thus proceed
to virStoragePoolObjAssignDef where only names are compared.
Therefore both threads succeed which is obviously wrong.
We should check for duplicates where we care for them.

It was found that in cases with host devices virProcessKillPainfully
might be able to send signal zero to the target PID for quite a while
with the process already being gone from /proc/<PID>.
That is due to cleanup and reset of devices which might include a
secondary bus reset that on top of the actions taken has a 1s delay
to let the bus settle. Due to that guests with plenty of Host devices
could easily exceed the default timeouts.
To solve that, this adds an extra delay of 2s per hostdev that is associated
to a VM.

Explicitly call virJSONInitialize at startup of the libvirt daemon so
that we are sure that the symbols in the compat library are properly
loaded. This will prevent any random failure from happening later on
when the daemon would want to use the JSON parser.

This function retrieves the name of the OVS bridge that the given
netdev is attached to. This separate function is necessary because OVS
set the IFLA_MASTER attribute to "ovs-system" for all netdevs that are
attached to an OVS bridge, so the standard method of retrieving the
master can't be used.

Now that the nwfilter driver keeps a list of bindings that it has
created, there is no need for the complex virt driver callbacks. It is
possible to simply iterate of the list of recorded filter bindings.
This means that rebuilding filters no longer has to acquire any locks on
the virDomainObj objects, as they're never touched.

We are going to want to expose the NWFilter binding concept in the
public API, so the virNWFilterBindingPtr type needs to be used there.
Our internal type will shortly gain an XML representation, so rename

The dirent's d_type field is not portable to all platforms. So we have
to use stat() to determine the type of file for the functions that need

In this patch we label the swtpm process with SELinux labels. We give it the
same label as the QEMU process has. We label its state directory and files
as well. We restore the old security labels once the swtpm has terminated.

For command line we need two things:
1) -object pr-manager-helper,id=$alias,path=$socketPath
2) -drive file.pr-manager=$alias
In -object pr-manager-helper we tell qemu which socket to connect
to, then in -drive file-pr-manager we just reference the object
the drive in question should use.
For managed PR helper the alias is always "pr-helper0" and socket
path "${vm->priv->libDir}/pr-helper0.sock".

This is a definition that holds information on SCSI persistent
reservation settings. The XML part looks like this:

Add detection mechanism which will allow to check whether a path to a
block device is a physical CDROM drive. This will be useful once we will
need to pass it to hypervisors.
The linux implementation uses an ioctl to do the detection, while the
fallback uses a simple string prefix match.

The virDomainNet struct contains everything related to configuring a
guest network device. Out of all of this info, only 5 fields are
relevant to configuring network filters. It will be more convenient for
future changes to the nwfilter driver if the relevant fields are kept in
a dedicated struct. Thus the virNWFilterBinding struct is created to
track this information.

This removes the virNWFilterHashTableFree, virNWFilterHashTablePut
and virNWFilterHashTableRemove methods, in favour of just calling
the virHash APIs directly.
The virNWFilterHashTablePut method was unreasonably complex because
the virHashUpdateEntry already knows how to create the entry if it
does not currently exist.

The driver.{c,h} files are primarily targetted at loading hypervisor
drivers and some helper functions in that area. It also, however,
contains a generically useful function for loading extension modules
that is called by the storage driver. Split that functionality off
into a new virmodule.{c,h} file to isolate it.

Rework the code such that virDomainObjListFindByID will always
return a locked/ref counted object so that the callers can
always do the same cleanup logic to call virDomainObjEndAPI.
Makes accessing the objects much more consistent.
NB:
There were 2 callers (lxcDomainLookupByID and qemuDomainLookupByID)
that were already using the ByID name, but not virDomainObjEndAPI -
these were changed as well in this update/patch.

Add a function named virDomainObjCheckIsActive in src/conf/domain_conf.c.
It calls virDomainObjIsActive, raises error if necessary and returns.
There is a lot of occurence of this pattern and it will save 3 lines on
each call.

When preparing for migration, the libxl driver creates a new TCP listen
socket for the incoming migration by calling virNetSocketNewListenTCP,
passing the destination host name. virNetSocketNewListenTCP calls
virSocketAddrParse to check if the host name is a wildcard address, in
which case it avoids adding the AI_ADDRCONFIG flag to the hints passed to
getaddrinfo. If the host name is not an IP address, virSocketAddrParse
reports an error
error : virSocketAddrParseInternal:121 : Cannot parse socket address
'myhost.example.com': Name or service not known
But virNetSocketNewListenTCP succeeds regardless and the overall migration
operation succeeds.
Introduce virSocketAddrParseAny and use it when simply testing if a host
name/addr is parsable.

For some reason we've decided to silently translate the disk
detect_zeroes mode if it would be invalid. Extract the
logic so that it does not need to be copypasta'd across the code base.

If the user tries to define a domain that has
<controller type='usb' model='none'/>
and also some USB devices, we report an error:
error: internal error: No free USB ports
Which is technically still correct for a domain with no USB ports.
Change it to:
USB is disabled for this domain, but USB devices are present in the domain XML

Host tcp4/tcp6 ports is a global resource thus we need to make
port accounting also global or we have issues described in [1] when
port allocator ranges of different instances are overlapped (which
is by default for qemu for example).
Let's have only one global port allocator object that take care
of the entire ports range (0 - 65535) and introduce port range object
for clients to specify desired auto allocation band.

When the test suite is running, we don't want to be triggering the
startup of daemons for the secondary drivers. Thus we must provide a way
to set a custom connection for the secondary drivers, to override the
default logic which opens a new connection.
This will also be useful for code where we have a whole set of separate
functions calls all needing the secret driver. Currently the connection
to the secret driver is opened & closed many times in quick
succession. This will allow us to pre-open a connection temporarily,
improving the performance of startup.

The virStorageTranslateDiskSourcePool method modifies a virDomainDiskDef
to resolve any storage pool reference. For some reason this was added
into the storage driver code, despite working entirely in terms of the
public APIs. Move it into the domain conf file and rename it to match the
object it modifies.

Currently the QEMU driver will call directly into the network driver
impl to modify resolve the atual type of NICs with type=network. It
has todo this before it has allocated the actual NIC. This introduces
a callback system to allow us to decouple the QEMU driver from the
network driver.
This is a short term step, as it ought to be possible to achieve the
same end goal by simply querying XML via the public network API. The
QEMU code in question though, has no virConnectPtr conveniently
available at this time.

Rather than static linking in various of the helper libraries to
libvirt_lxc, just link against the main libvirt.so. This is more memory
and time efficient because it will already be cached in memory and
sharable between processes.
CAPNG flags need adding because the LXC code directly calls various
libcapng APIs and no longer inherits the CAPNG flags via the statically
linked .a libs.

The QEMU driver loadable module needs to be able to resolve all ELF
symbols it references against libvirt.so. Some of its symbols can only
be resolved against the storage_driver.so loadable module which creates
a hard dependancy between them. By moving the storage file backend
framework into the util directory, this gets included directly in the
libvirt.so library. The actual backend implementations are still done as
loadable modules, so this doesn't re-add deps on gluster libraries.

Various parts of libvirt will want to open connections to secondary
drivers. The right URI to use will depend on the context, so rather than
duplicating that logic in various places, use some helper APIs. This
will also make it easier for us to later pre-open/cache connections to
avoid repeated opening & closing the same connectiong during autostart.

As it turns out virDomainDeviceFindControllerModel was only ever
called for SCSI controllers using VIR_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_TYPE_SCSI
as a parameter.
So rename to virDomainDeviceFindSCSIController and rather than
return a model, let's return a virDomainControllerDefPtr to let
the caller reference whatever it wants.
When receiving multiple socket FDs from systemd, it is critical to know
what socket address each corresponds to so we can setup the right
protocols on each.

This is a replacement for the existing udevPCIGetMdevTypesCap which is
static to the udev backend. This simple helper constructs the sysfs path
from the device's base path for each mdev type and queries the
corresponding attributes of that type.

This should serve as a replacement for the existing udevFillMdevType
which is responsible for fetching the device type's attributes from the
sysfs interface. The problem with the existing solution is that it's
tied to the udev backend.

Whether asking for a number of capabilities supported by a device or
listing them, it's handled essentially by a copy-paste code, so extract
the common stuff into this new helper which also updates all
capabilities just before touching them.

The capabilities are defined/parsed/formatted/queried from this module,
no reason for 'update' not being part of the module as well. This also
involves some module-specific prefix changes.
This patch also drops the node_device_linux_sysfs module from the repo
since:
a) it only contained the capability handlers we just moved
b) it's only linked with the driver (by design) and thus unreachable to
other modules
c) we touch sysfs across all the src/util modules so the module being
deleted hasn't been serving its original intention for some time already.

With this commit we finally have a way to read and manipulate basic resctrl
settings. Locking is done only on exposed functions that read/write from/to
resctrlfs. Not in functions that are exposed in virresctrlpriv.h as those are
only supposed to be used from tests.
