The vHBA/NPIV LUNs created via the udev processing of the
VPORT_CREATE command end up using the same serial value
as seen/generated by the /lib/udev/scsi_id as returned
during virStorageFileGetSCSIKey. Therefore, in order to
generate a unique enough key to be used when adding the
LUN as a volume during virStoragePoolObjAddVol a more
unique key needs to be generated for an NPIV volume.
The problem is illustrated by the following example, where
scsi_host5 is a vHBA used with the following LUNs:
$ lsscsi -tg
...
[5:0:4:0] disk fc:0x5006016844602198,0x101f00 /dev/sdh /dev/sg23
[5:0:5:0] disk fc:0x5006016044602198,0x102000 /dev/sdi /dev/sg24
...
Calling virStorageFileGetSCSIKey would return:
/lib/udev/scsi_id --device /dev/sdh --whitelisted --replace-whitespace /dev/sdh
350060160c460219850060160c4602198
/lib/udev/scsi_id --device /dev/sdh --whitelisted --replace-whitespace /dev/sdi
350060160c460219850060160c4602198
Note that althrough /dev/sdh and /dev/sdi are separate LUNs, they
end up with the same serial number used for the vol->key value.
When virStoragePoolFCRefreshThread calls virStoragePoolObjAddVol
the second LUN fails to be added with the following message
getting logged:
virHashAddOrUpdateEntry:341 : internal error: Duplicate key
To resolve this, virStorageFileGetNPIVKey will use a similar call
sequence as virStorageFileGetSCSIKey, except that it will add the
"--export" option to the call. This results in more detailed output
which needs to be parsed in order to formulate a unique enough key
to be used. In order to be unique enough, the returned value will
concatenate the target port as returned in the "ID_TARGET_PORT"
field from the command to the "ID_SERIAL" value.

In many files there are header comments that contain an Author:

In a large collaborative project like libvirt, any non-trivial

contributors. IOW, the Author: comments are quickly out of date,
omitting people who have made significant contribitions.
In some places Author: lines have been added despite the person
merely being responsible for creating the file by moving existing
code out of another file. IOW, the Author: lines give an incorrect
record of authorship.
With this all in mind, the comments are useless as a means to identify
who to talk to about code in a particular file. Contributors will always
be better off using 'git log' and 'git blame' if they need to find the
author of a particular bit of code.
This commit thus deletes all Author: comments from the source and adds

The URI parser used by libvirt does not populate uri->path if the
trailing slash is missing. The code virStorageSourceParseBackingURI
would then not populate src->path.
As only NBD network disks are allowed to have the 'name' field in the
XML defining the disk source omitted we'd generate an invalid XML which
we'd not parse again.
Fix it by populating src->path with an empty string if the uri is
lacking slash.
As pointed out above NBD is special in this case since we actually allow
it being NULL. The URI path is used as export name. Since an empty
export does not make sense the new approach clears the src->path if the
trailing slash is present but nothing else.

The QEMU driver loadable module needs to be able to resolve all ELF

be resolved against the storage_driver.so loadable module which creates
a hard dependancy between them. By moving the storage file backend

configured using properties of the image. Add fields to virStorageSource
which will allow configuring them.
Split on the last colon and avoid parsing port if the split remainder
contains the closing square bracket, so that IPv6 addresses are
interpreted correctly.
Libvirt historically stores storage source path including the volume as
one string in the XML, but that is not really flexible enough when
dealing with the fields in the code. Previously we'd store the slash
separating the two as part of the image name. This was fine for gluster
but it's not necessary and does not scale well when converting other
protocols.
Don't store the slash as part of the path. The resulting change from
absolute to relative path within the gluster driver should be okay,
as the root directory is the default when accessing gluster.
Since the virStorageAuthDefPtr auth; is a member of _virStorageSource
it really should be allowed to be a subelement of the disk <source>
for the RBD and iSCSI prototcols. That way we can set up to allow
the <auth> element to be formatted within the disk source.
Since we've allowed the <auth> to be a child of <disk>, we'll need
to keep track of how it was read so that when writing out we'll know
whether to format as child of <disk> or <source>. For the argv2xml
parsing, let's format under <source> as a preference. Do not allow
<auth> to be both a child of <disk> and <source>.
Modify the qemuxml2argvtest to add a parse failure when there is an
<auth> as a child of <disk> *and* an <auth> as a child of <source>.

When formatting an inactive or migratable XML we will need to suppress
backing chain members which were detected from the disk to keep
semantics straight. This means we need to record, whether a
virStorageSource originates from autodetection.
Express a properly terminated backing chain by putting a
virStorageSource of type VIR_STORAGE_TYPE_NONE in the chain. The newly
used helpers simplify this greatly.
The change fixes a bug as formatting an incomplete backing chain and
parsing it back would end up in expressing a terminated chain since
src->backingStoreRaw was not populated. By relying on the terminator
object this can be now processed appropriately.
Add helpers that will simplify checking if a backing file is valid or
whether it has backing store. The helper virStorageSourceIsBacking
returns true if the given virStorageSource is a valid backing store
member. virStorageSourceHasBacking returns true if the virStorageSource
has a backing store child.
Adding these functions creates a central points for further refactors.
The backing store indexes were not bound to the storage sources in any
way. To allow us to bind a given alias to a given storage source we need
to save the index in virStorageSource. The backing store ids are now
generated when detecting the backing chain.
Since we don't re-detect the backing chain after snapshots, the
numbering needs to be fixed there.
Introduce a function to setup any TLS needs for a disk source.
If there's a configuration or other error setting up the disk source
for TLS, then cause the domain startup to fail.
For VxHS, follow the chardevTLS model where if the src->haveTLS hasn't
been configured, then take the system/global cfg->haveTLS setting for
the storage source *and* mark that we've done so via the tlsFromConfig
setting in storage source.
Next, if we are using TLS, then generate an alias into a virStorageSource
'tlsAlias' field that will be used to create the TLS object and added to

Add an optional virTristateBool haveTLS to virStorageSource to
manage whether a storage source will be using TLS.
Sample XML for a VxHS disk:
<disk type='network' device='disk'>
<driver name='qemu' type='raw' cache='none'/>
<source protocol='vxhs' name='eb90327c-8302-4725-9e1b-4e85ed4dc251' tls='yes'>
<host name='192.168.0.1' port='9999'/>
</source>
<target dev='vda' bus='virtio'/>
</disk>
Additionally add a tlsFromConfig boolean to control whether the TLS
setting was due to domain configuration or qemu.conf global setting
in order to decide whether to Format the haveTLS setting for either
a live or saved domain configuration file.
Update the qemuxml2xmltest in order to add a test to show the proper
parsing.
Also update the docs to describe the tls attribute.

Calling fallocate on the new (smaller) capacity ensures
that the whole file is allocated, but it does not reduce
the file size.
Also call ftruncate after fallocate.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1366446
We have been trying to implement the ALLOCATE flag to mean
"the volume should be fully allocated after the resize".
Since commit b0579ed9 we do not allocate from the existing
capacity, but from the existing allocation value.
However this value is a total of all the allocated bytes,
not an offset.
For a sparsely allocated file:
$ perl -e 'print "x"x8192;' > vol1
$ fallocate -p -o 0 -l 4096 vol1
$ virsh vol-info vol1 default
Capacity: 8.00 KiB
Allocation: 4.00 KiB
Treating allocation as an offset would result in an incompletely
allocated file:
$ virsh vol-resize vol1 --pool default 16384 --allocate
Capacity: 16.00 KiB
Allocation: 12.00 KiB
Call fallocate from zero on the whole requested capacity to fully
allocate the file. After that, the volume is fully allocated
after the resize:
$ virsh vol-resize vol1 --pool default 16384 --allocate
$ virsh vol-info vol1 default
Capacity: 16.00 KiB
Allocation: 16.00 KiB
Introduce a new function virFileAllocate that will call the
non-destructive variants of safezero, essentially reverting
my commit 1390c268
safezero: fall back to writing zeroes even when resizing
back to the state as of commit 18f0316
virstoragefile: Have virStorageFileResize use safezero
This means that _ALLOCATE flag will no longer work on platforms
without the allocate syscalls, but it will not overwrite data
either.
Commit id '5604c056' used the wrong API to generate the

Fill them in right away rather than having to figure out at runtime
whether they are necessary or not.
virStorageSourceNetworkDefaultPort does not need to be exported any
more.
Currently the function would deflatten the object by dropping the 'file'
prefix from the attributes. This does not really scale well or adhere to
the documentation.
Until we refactor the worker to properly deflatten everything we at
least simulate it by adding the "file" wrapper object back.

As it turns out the volume create, build, and refresh path was not peeking
at the meta data, so immediately after a create operation the value displayed
for capacity was still incorrect. However, if a pool refresh was done the
correct value was fetched as a result of a meta data peek.
The reason is it seems historically if the file type is RAW then peeking
at the file just took the physical value for the capacity. However, since
we know if it's an encrypted file, then peeking at the meta data will be
required in order to get a true capacity value.
So check for encryption in the source and if present, use the meta data
in order to fill in the capacity value and set the payload_offset.
Starting from qemu 2.9, more granular options are supported. Add parser
for the relevant bits.
With this patch libvirt is able to parse the host and target IQN of from
the JSON pseudo-protocol specification.
This corresponds to BlockdevOptionsIscsi in qemu qapi.
'SocketAddress' structure was changed to contain 'inet' instead of
'tcp' since qemu commit c5f1ae3ae7b. Existing entries have a backward
compatibility layer.
Libvirt will parse 'inet' and 'tcp' as equivalents.
The same json strucutre is used for NBD and sheepdog volumes for
specifying of the host. Rename the function and fix up error messages to
be more universal.
The host address or the socket path have already been checked at the
begining of the function virStorageSourceParseNBDColonString(). So,
when the parameter is not a unix socket, there is no reason to check
the address again because if it does not exists, the logic will fail
in the first IF conditional.

The 'capacity' value (e.g. guest logical size) for a LUKS volume is
smaller than the 'physical' value of the file in the file system, so
we need to account for that.
When peeking at the encryption information about the volume add a fetch
of the payload_offset which is described as the offset to the start of
the volume data (in 512 byte sectors) in QEMU's QCryptoBlockLUKSHeader.
Then adjust the ->capacity appropriately when we determine that the
volume target encryption has a payload_offset value.
We keep forgetting that older setups don't like 'index':

STREQ_NULLABLE returns true if both parameters are NULL. And that's
not what we want here. We just want to skop comparing source nodes
that don't have that info set. The function wouldn't make much sense
with nodeName == NULL, so we don't need to check that. Moreover, the
function's declaration uses ATTRIBUDE_NONNULL for nodeName, which not
only means that function expects the parameter not to be NULL, but
actually tells the compiler that it can optimize out the NULL checks.
That way it could end up calling strcmp on NULL (either nodeformat or
nodebacking). GCC figures this out if libvirt is compiled with
lv_cv_static_analysis=yes, unfortunately not everyone uses that.

The function has very specific semantics. Split out the part that parses
the backing store specification string into a separate helper so that it
can be reused later while keeping the wrapper with existing semantics.
Note that virStorageFileParseChainIndex is pretty well covered by the
test suite.
The 'raw' block driver in Qemu is not directly interesting from
libvirt's perspective, but it can be layered above some other block
drivers and this may be interesting for the user.
The patch adds support for the 'raw' block driver. The driver is treated
simply as a pass-through and child driver in JSON is queried to get the
necessary information.

Instead of having duplicated code in qemuStorageLimitsRefresh and
virStorageBackendUpdateVolTargetInfo to get capacity specific data
about the storage backing source or volume -- create a common API
to handle the details for both.
As a side effect, virStorageFileProbeFormatFromBuf returns to being
a local/static helper to virstoragefile.c
For the QEMU code - if the probe is done, then the format is saved so
as to avoid future such probes.
For the storage backend code, there is no need to deal with the probe
since we cannot call the new API if target->format == NONE.

Instead of having duplicated code in qemuStorageLimitsRefresh and
virStorageBackendUpdateVolTargetInfoFD to fill in the storage backing
source or volume allocation, capacity, and physical values - create a
common API that will handle the details for both.
The common API will fill in "default" capacity values as well - although
those more than likely will be overridden by subsequent code. Having just
one place to make the determination of what the values should be will
make things be more consistent.
For the QEMU code - the data filled in will be for inactive domains
for the GetBlockInfo and DomainGetStatsOneBlock API's. For the storage

Commit id '8dc27259' introduced virStorageSourceUpdateBlockPhysicalSize
in order to retrieve the physical size for a block backed source device
for an active domain since commit id '15fa84ac' changed to use the
qemuMonitorGetAllBlockStatsInfo and qemuMonitorBlockStatsUpdateCapacity
API's to (essentially) retrieve the "actual-size" from a 'query-block'
operation for the source device.
However, the code only was made functional for a BLOCK backing type
and it neglected to use qemuOpenFile, instead using just open. After
the open the block lseek would find the end of the block and set the
physical value, close the fd and return.
Since the code would return 0 immediately if the source device wasn't
a BLOCK backed device, the physical would be displayed incorrectly,
such as follows in domblkinfo for a file backed source device:
Capacity: 1073741824
Allocation: 0
Physical: 0
This patch will modify the algorithm to get the physical size for other
backing types and it will make use of the qemuDomainStorageOpenStat
helper in order to open/stat the source file depending on its type.
The qemuDomainGetStatsOneBlock will no longer inhibit printing errors,
but it will still ignore them leaving the physical value set to 0.

Commit id 'a48c7141' altered how to determine if a volume was encrypted
by adding a peek at an offset into the file at a specific buffer location.
Unfortunately, all that was compared was the first "char" of the buffer
against the expect "int" value.
Restore the virReadBufInt32BE to get the complete field in order to
compare against the expected value from the qcow2EncryptionInfo or
qcow1EncryptionInfo "modeValue" field.
This restores the capability to create a volume with encryption, then
refresh the pool, and still find the encryption for the volume.

Upon entry to qemuDomainAttachVirtioDiskDevice, src->encryption points
at a valid 'secret' buffer w/ nsecrets == 1; however, the call to
qemuDomainDetermineDiskChain will call virStorageFileGetMetadata
and eventually virStorageFileGetMetadataInternal where the src->encryption
was overwritten when probing the volume.
Commit id 'a48c7141' added code to virStorageFileGetMetadataInternal
to determine if the disk/volume would use/need encryption and allocated
a meta->encryption. This overwrote an existing encryption buffer
already provided by the XML
This patch adds a check for meta->encryption already present before
just allocating and overwriting an existing buffer. It then checks the
existing encryption data to ensure the XML provided format for the
disk matches the expected format read from the disk and errors if there
is a mismatch.
The current LUKS support has a "luks" volume type which has
a "luks" encryption format.
This partially makes sense if you consider the QEMU shorthand
syntax only requires you to specify a format=luks, and it'll
automagically uses "raw" as the next level driver. QEMU will
however let you override the "raw" with any other driver it
supports (vmdk, qcow, rbd, iscsi, etc, etc)
IOW the intention though is that the "luks" encryption format
is applied to all disk formats (whether raw, qcow2, rbd, gluster
or whatever). As such it doesn't make much sense for libvirt
to say the volume type is "luks" - we should be saying that it
is a "raw" file, but with "luks" encryption applied.
IOW, when creating a storage volume we should use this XML
<volume>
<name>demo.raw</name>
<capacity>5368709120</capacity>
<target>
<format type='raw'/>
<encryption format='luks'>
<secret type='passphrase' uuid='0a81f5b2-8403-7b23-c8d6-21ccd2f80d6f'/>
</encryption>
</target>
</volume>
and when configuring a guest disk we should use
<disk type='file' device='disk'>
<driver name='qemu' type='raw'/>
<source file='/home/berrange/VirtualMachines/demo.raw'/>
<target dev='sda' bus='scsi'/>
<encryption format='luks'>
<secret type='passphrase' uuid='0a81f5b2-8403-7b23-c8d6-21ccd2f80d6f'/>
</encryption>
</disk>
This commit thus removes the "luks" storage volume type added
in

util: Add 'luks' to the FileTypeInfo
The storage file probing code is modified so that it can probe
the actual encryption formats explicitly, rather than merely
probing existance of encryption and letting the storage driver
guess the format.
The rest of the code is then adapted to deal with
VIR_STORAGE_FILE_RAW w/ VIR_STORAGE_ENCRYPTION_FORMAT_LUKS
instead of just VIR_STORAGE_FILE_LUKS.
The commit mentioned above was included in libvirt v2.0.0.
So when querying volume XML this will be a change in behaviour
vs the 2.0.0 release - it'll report 'raw' instead of 'luks'
for the volume format, but still report 'luks' for encryption
format. I think this change is OK because the storage driver
did not include any support for creating volumes, nor starting
guets with luks volumes in v2.0.0 - that only since then.
Clearly if we change this we must do it before v2.1.0 though.
