baca005367 util: Introduce virBitmapShrink
Sometimes the size of the bitmap matters and it might not be guessed correctly
when parsing from some type of input. For example virBitmapNewData() has Byte
granularity, virBitmapNewString() has nibble granularity and so on.
virBitmapParseUnlimited() can be tricked into creating huge bitmap that's not
needed (e.g.: "0-2,^99999999"). This function provides a way to shrink the
bitmap. It is not supposed to free any memory.

2e5579a43b util: Introduce virBitmapNewString
Our bitmaps can be represented as data (raw bytes for which we have
virBitmapNewData() and virBitmapToData()), human representation (list
of numbers in a string for which we have virBitmapParse() and
virBitmapFormat()) and hexadecimal string (for which we have only
virBitmapToString()). So let's add the missing complement for the
last one so that we can parse hexadecimal strings.

It is literally only a wrapper around virBitmapNewData() and

7cd01a248b util: bitmap: clarify virBitmapLastSetBit() behavior for empty bitmaps
Before the variable 'bits' was initialized with 0 (commit
3470cd860d), the following bug was
possible.

A function call with an empty bitmap leads to undefined
behavior. Because if 'bitmap->map_len == 0' 'unusedBits' will be <= 0
and 'sz == 1'. So the non global and non static variable 'bits' would
have never been set. Consequently the check 'bits == 0' results in
undefined behavior.

This patch clarifies the current version of the function by handling the
empty bitmap explicitly. Also, for an empty bitmap there is obviously no
bit set so we can just return -1 (indicating no bit set) right away. The
explicit check for 'bits == 0' after the loop is unnecessary because we
only get to this point if no set bit was found.

This patch adds checks for empty bitmaps right after the calls of

Also, it partially reverts commit 983f5a which added a check for
invalid nodeset "0,^0" into virBitmapParse function. This change broke
the logic, as an empty bitmap should not cause an error.

47b9127e88 virbitmap: Refactor virBitmapParse to avoid access beyond bounds of array
The virBitmapParse function was calling virBitmapIsSet() function that
requires the caller to check the bounds of the bitmap without checking
them. This resulted into crashes when parsing a bitmap string that was
exceeding the bounds used as argument.

This patch refactors the function to use virBitmapSetBit without
checking if the bit is set (this function does the checks internally)
and then counts the bits in the bitmap afterwards (instead of keeping
track while parsing the string).

This patch also changes the "parse_error" label to a more common
"error".

The refactor should also get rid of the need to call sa_assert on the
returned variable as the callpath should allow coverity to infer the
possible return values.
