f08d5dada4 util: introduce compile time API version checking
GLib header files annotate every API with a version number.

It is possible to define some constants before including
glib.h which will result in useful compile time warnings.

Setting GLIB_VERSION_MIN_REQUIRED will result in a warning
if libvirt uses an API that was deprecated in the declared
version, or before. Such API usage should be rewritten to
use the documented new replacement API.

Setting GLIB_VERSION_MAX_ALLOWED will result in a warning
if libvirt uses an API that was not introduced until a
version of GLib that's newer than our minimum declared
version. This avoids accidentally using functionality
that is not available on some supported platforms.

e73a997359 build: set min version for CLang to 3.4 / XCode CLang to 5.1
We have a strong check for GCC >= 4.8, but don't validate any
version number for CLang historically.

This defines the min CLang to be 3.4 which is what is available
for RHEL-7. macOS uses a different versioning scheme for CLang,
based off XCode versions. There is a mapping recorded at

  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xcode#Toolchain_versions

Here we see upstream CLang 3.4 corresponds to XCode 5.1

XCode 5.1 is available for macOS 10.8.4 or later which
trivially satisfies our platform support matrix requirements.

All these versions match what QEMU declares for its min GCC
and CLang checks.

4ab46435f1 nss: only link to yajl library and nothing else
Now that the code does not refer to any libvirt headers,
except internal.h macros, it does not need to link to
any libvirt code, nor gnulib either. The only thing it
needs is yajl.

ac0d21c762 build: drop libvirt setuid library build
The virt-login-shell setuid program is now a tiny piece of code
that only uses standard libc functions, and santizes the execution
environment before invoking the real virt-login-shell-helper.
The latter is thus able to use the normal libvirt.so build,
allowing us to delete the special cut down setuid library build.

a067b781e9 build: bump min required gcc to 4.8
The previous bump to 4.4 was done in:

  commit 24241c236e
  Author: Daniel P. Berrange <berrange@redhat.com>
  Date: Wed Jul 5 10:35:32 2017 +0100

Require use of GCC 4.4 or CLang compilers

with 4.4 picked due to RHEL-6. Since we dropped RHEL-6, the
next oldest distro is RHEL-7 (4.8.5), and thus we pick 4.8
as the new min.

3e7db8d3e8 Remove backslash alignment attempts
Right-aligning backslashes when defining macros or using complex
commands in Makefiles looks cute, but as soon as any changes is
required to the code you end up with either distractingly broken
alignment or unnecessarily big diffs where most of the changes
are just pushing all backslashes a few characters to one side.

24241c236e Require use of GCC 4.4 or CLang compilers
We only ever test libvirt with GCC or CLang which provides a
GCC compatible compilation environment. Between them, these
compilers cover every important operating system platform,
even Windows.

Mandate their use to make it explicit that we don't care about
compilers like Microsoft VCC or other UNIX vendor C compilers.

GCC 4.4 was picked as the baseline, since RHEL-6 ships 4.4.7
and that lets us remove a large set of checks. There is a slight
issue that CLang reports itself as GCC 4.2, so we must also check
if __clang__ is defined. We could check a particular CLang version
too, but that would require someone to figure out a suitable min
version which is fun because OS-X reports totally different CLang
version numbers from CLang builds on Linux/BSD

83b98f194b Remove duplicate define of __GNUC_PREREQ
Back in this commit:

  commit b436a8ae5c
  Author: Fabian Freyer <fabian.freyer@physik.tu-berlin.de>
  Date: Thu Jun 9 00:50:35 2016 +0000

    gnulib: add getopt module

config-post.h was modified to define __GNUC_PREREQ, but the
original definition was never removed from internal.h, and
that is now dead code since config.h is always the first file
included.

b436a8ae5c gnulib: add getopt module
Unconditionally use gnulib's getopt module. This is needed by the bhyve driver
to provide a reentrant interface for getopt.

Several gnulib headers rely on features.h being included by ctype.h to provide
__GNUC_PREREQ, but on systems without glibc, this is not provided. In these
cases __GNUC_PREREQ gets redefined to 0, which causes build errors from checks
in src/internal.h.
Therefore, define __GNUC_PREREQ as early as possible. config-post.h is probably
the first header that is included, before any other headers.

3e2f27e13b Don't link virt-login-shell against libvirt.so (CVE-2013-4400)
The libvirt.so library has far too many library deps to allow
linking against it from setuid programs. Those libraries can
do stuff in __attribute__((constructor) functions which is
not setuid safe.

The virt-login-shell needs to link directly against individual
files that it uses, with all library deps turned off except
for libxml2 and libselinux.

Create a libvirt-setuid-rpc-client.la library which is linked
to by virt-login-shell. A config-post.h file allows this library
to disable all external deps except libselinux and libxml2.
