62ca300530 util: remove virObjectUnref() adapters
These wrapper functions were used to adapt the virObjectUnref() function
signature for different callbacks. But in commit 0d184072, the
virObjectUnref() function was changed to return a void instead of a
bool, so these adapters are no longer necessary.

8b2bf0f1d7 admin: Introduce virAdmConnectSetDaemonTimeout
Use of the admin APIs to modify logging temporarily has a rather serious
deficiency when the daemon whose config is being changed is using
auto-shutdown (default with socket-activated deployments) as the
configuration is discarded if there is no client or VM/other object
blocking auto shutdown.

This API allows users to disable/postpone shutdown timeout so that the
configuration doesn't change under their hands.

9f6749dea0 util: Check for errors in virLogSetFromEnv
And make callers check the return value as well. This helps error out early for
invalid environment variables.

That is desirable because it could lead to deadlocks. This can happen when
resetting logging after fork() reports translated errors because gettext
functions are not reentrant. Well, it is not limited to resetting logging after
fork(), it can be any translation at that phase, but parsing environment
variables is easy to make fail on purpose to show the result, it can also happen
just due to a typo.

Before this commit it is possible to deadlock the daemon on startup
with something like:

LIBVIRT_LOG_FILTERS='1:*' LIBVIRT_LOG_OUTPUTS=1:stdout libvirtd

where filters are used to enable more logging and hence make the race less rare
and outputs are set to invalid

Combined with the previous patches this changes
the following from:

...
<deadlock>

to:

...
libvirtd: initialisation failed

The error message is improved in future commits and is also possible thanks to
this patch.

c8238579fb lib: Drop internal virXXXPtr typedefs
Historically, we declared pointer type to our types:

  typedef struct _virXXX virXXX;
  typedef virXXX *virXXXPtr;

But usefulness of such declaration is questionable, at best.
Unfortunately, we can't drop every such declaration - we have to
carry some over, because they are part of public API (e.g.
virDomainPtr). But for internal types - we can do drop them and
use what every other C project uses 'virXXX *'.

This change was generated by a very ugly shell script that
generated sed script which was then called over each file in the
repository. For the shell script refer to the cover letter:

Currently, we are mixing: #if HAVE_BLAH with #if WITH_BLAH.
Things got way better with Pavel's work on meson, but apparently,
mixing these two lead to confusing and easy to miss bugs (see

d7147b3797 m4: virt-xdr: rewrite XDR check
The current code to check XDR support was obsolete and way to
complicated.

On linux we can use pkg-config to check for libtirpc and have
the CFLAGS and LIBS configured by it as well.

On MinGW there is portablexdr library which installs header files
directly into system include directory.

On FreeBSD and macOS XDR functions are part of libc so there is
no library needed, we just need to call AM_CONDITIONAL to silence
configure which otherwise complains about missing WITH_XDR.
