1c2314b938 qemu: Update to new design of 'block-export-add'
qemu decided to modify the arguments of 'block-export-add' to include an
array of bitmaps rather than a single bitmap.

Since we've added the code prior to qemu setting the interface in stone
and thus it will be changed incompatibly and we already have tests for
the new interface we need to update the code and qemu capabilities data
at the same time.

Use a array of bitmaps as the 'bitmaps' argument instead of 'bitmap' and
bump qemu capabilities for the upcoming 5.2.0 release to
v5.1.0-2827-g2c6605389c

b87cfc957f qemu: capabilities: Disable detection of QEMU_CAPS_BLOCK_EXPORT_ADD
We use the capability to switch to using 'block-export-add' in the
upcoming qemu release instead of the at the same time deprecated
'nbd-server-add'.

Unfortunately qemu wants to change the interface of 'block-export-add'
before the release. Since we've tried to stay up to date and added the
code before it was written in stone, we need to disable the use of the
new interface for the upcoming libvirt release so that we don't have a
version of libvirt which would not work with the upcoming qemu version.

Remove the detection of 'block-export-add' until we are more sure how
the qemu interface will look.

This patch partially reverts commit adb9f7123a

7b1ed1cd73 qemu: stop passing -enable-fips to QEMU >= 5.2.0
Use of the -enable-fips option is being deprecated in QEMU >= 5.2.0. If
FIPS compliance is required, QEMU must be built with libcrypt which will
unconditionally enforce it.

Thus there is no need for libvirt to pass -enable-fips to modern QEMU.
Unfortunately there was never any way to probe for -enable-fips in the
first instance, it was enabled by libvirt based on version number
originally, and then later unconditionally enabled when libvirt dropped
support for older QEMU. Similarly we now use a version number check to
decide when to stop passing -enable-fips.

Note that the qemu-5.2 capabilities are currently from the pre-release
version and will be updated once qemu-5.2 is released.

3b7ca6d419 qemu: capabilities: Introduce QEMU_CAPS_VIRTIO_BLK_SCSI_DEFAULT_DISABLED
Historically the 'scsi' passthrough feature of virtio-blk-pci
was enabled by default. Libvirt was disabling it due to security
implications outlined in libvirt commit v0.9.9-4-g177db08775 if it was
not explicitly requested. In qemu commit v2.4.0-1566-ged65fd1a27 the
default value was changed to disabled in preparation for virtio-1.
Starting from QEMU-5.0 the 'scsi' property was also deprecated. There
replacement for the functionality is to use 'virtio-scsi' for the
purpose. This isn't a direct replacement though.

Add capability named QEMU_CAPS_VIRTIO_BLK_SCSI_DEFAULT_DISABLED which
allows us to stop formatting the 'scsi=' property if it's disabled by
default and not requested so that we don't use deprecated features.

199dd6f693 qemu: Add capability for IBS pSeries feature
IBS (Indirect Branch Speculation) is the last capability added

This patch introduces it as QEMU_CAPS_MACHINE_PSERIES_CAP_IBS.

a0a2c8ab73 qemu: Add capability for CFPC pSeries feature
CFPC (Cache Flush on Privilege Change) is one of the capabilities
added to QEMU to mitigate Spectre vulnerabilities in Power chips.
It was implemented in QEMU 2.12 by commit 6898aed77f46.

This capability is still used today due to differences in how
the host setup (hardware and firmware/kernel) can handle this
mitigation. Its default value also varies with the pseries machine
version of the time. There's also certain OSes, like AIX, that
might not support the default value of the pseries machine the
guest uses.

Exposing this in the Libvirt XML as a feature will allow users to tune
CFPC values in a cleaner way, instead of hacking parameters in
<qemu:commandline> elements.

cad65f222f qemu: add capabilities flag for failover feature
Presence of the virtio-net-pci option called "failover" indicates
support in a qemu binary of a simplistic bonding of a virtio-net
device with another PCI device. This feature allows migration of
guests that have a network device assigned to a guest with VFIO, by
creating a network bond device in the guest consisting of the
VFIO-assigned device and a virtio-net-pci device, then temporarily
(and automatically) unplugging the VFIO net device prior to migration
(and hotplugging an equivalent device on the migration
destination). (The feature is called "failover" because the bond
device uses the vfio-pci netdev for normal guest networking, but
"fails over" to the virtio-net-pci netdev once the vfio-pci device is
unplugged for migration.)

Full functioning of the feature also requires support in the
virtio-net driver in the guest OS (since that is where the bond device
resides), but if the "failover" commandline option is present for the
virtio-net-pci device in qemu, at least the qemu part of the feature
is available, and libvirt can add the proper options to both the
virtio-net-pci and vfio-pci device commandlines to indicate qemu
should attempt doing the failover during migration.

This patch just adds the qemu capabilities flag "virtio-net.failover".

The "ps2" bus is only available on certain machines like x86. On

Looking at the QEMU sources, PS/2 is only available if the QEMU binary

86a8e5a84c qemu: Add capability for the ccf-assist pSeries feature
Linux kernel 5.1 added a new PPC KVM capability named
KVM_PPC_CPU_CHAR_BCCTR_FLUSH_ASSIST, which is exposed to the QEMU guest
since QEMU commit 8ff43ee404d under a new sPAPR capability called
SPAPR_CAP_CCF_ASSIST. This cap indicates whether the processor supports
hardware acceleration for the count cache flush workaround, which
is a software workaround that flushes the count cache on context
switch. If the processor has this hardware acceleration, the software
flush can be shortened, resulting in performance gain.

This hardware acceleration is defaulted to 'off' in QEMU. The reason
is that earlier versions of the Power 9 processor didn't support
it (it is available on Power 9 DD2.3 and newer), and defaulting this
option to 'on' would break migration compatibility between the Power 9
processor class.

However, the user running a P9 DD2.3+ hypervisor might want to create
guests with ccf-assist=on, accepting the downside of only being able
to migrate them only between other P9 DD2.3+ hosts running upstream
kernel 5.1+, to get a performance boost.

This patch adds this new capability to Libvirt, with the name of
QEMU_CAPS_MACHINE_PSERIES_CAP_CCF_ASSIST.

6abda7a445 backup: Add two new qemu capabilities
Add two capabilities for testing features required for the upcoming
virDomainBackupBegin: use block-dirty-bitmap-merge as the generic
witness of bitmap support needed for checkpoints (since all of the
bitmap management functionalities were finalized in the same qemu 4.0
release), and the bitmap parameter to nbd-server-add for pull-mode
backup support. Even though both capabilities are likely to be
present or absent together (that is, it is unlikely to encounter a
qemu that backports only one of the two), it still makes sense to keep
two capabilities as the two uses are orthogonal (full backups don't
require checkpoints, push mode backups don't require NBD bitmap
support, and checkpoints can be used for more than just incremental
backups).

Existing code is not affected by the new capabilities.

Now that we're probing machine type properties using the

This commit refreshes replies for QEMU 4.0.0 as well as

of available machine type properties increases with each
subsequent QEMU release.

If qom-list-properties had been available in QEMU 2.10.0,
we could now drop the explicit version number checks for

can vary in the same machine model (e.g. ACPI support for x86 VMs

77f51ab520 qemu: caps: Format SEV platform data into qemuCaps cache
Since we're not saving the platform-specific data into a cache, we're
not going to populate the structure, which in turn will cause a crash
upon calling virNodeGetSEVInfo because of a NULL pointer dereference.
Ultimately, we should start caching this data along with host-specific
capabilities like NUMA and SELinux stuff into a separate cache, but for
the time being, this is a semi-proper fix for a potential crash.

764491c9dd qemu: Fix probing of AMD SEV support
So the procedure to detect SEV support works like this:
1) we detect that sev-guest is among the QOM types and set the cap flag
2) we probe the monitor for SEV support
    - this is tricky, because QEMU with compiled SEV support will always
report -object sev-guest and query-sev-capabilities command, that
however doesn't mean SEV is supported
3) depending on what the monitor returned, we either keep or clear the
capability flag for SEV

Commit a349c6c21c added an explicit check for "GenericError" in the
monitor reply to prevent libvirtd to spam logs about missing
'query-sev-capabilities' command. At the same time though, it returned
success in this case which means that we didn't clear the capability
flag afterwards and happily formatted SEV into qemuCaps. Therefore,
adjust all the relevant callers to handle -1 on errors, 0 on SEV being
unsupported and 1 on SEV being supported.

3ea32b635d qemu: Add capability flag for setting the extended tseg size
For getting the reply I queried the newest and oldest QEMU using

added support for the new option I used the output from the oldest QEMU release
and for those that support it I used the output from the newest one.

In order to make doubly sure the reply is where it is supposed to be (the
replies files are very forgiving) I added the property to all the replies files,
reran the tests again and fixed the order in replies files so that all the
versions are reporting the new capability. Then removed that one property.

After that I used test/qemucapsfixreplies to fix the reply IDs.

When GIC support was introduced (QEMU 2.6 timeframe) we needed
to make sure both GICv2 hardware and GICv3 hardware were handled
correctly, and that was achieved by having separate capabilities
data for each.

Now that we have capabilities data for several QEMU versions we
can stop storing data for GICv2 and GICv3 hardware separately,
and instead have GICv2 data for QEMU <= 2.10 and GICv3 data for
QEMU >= 2.12, without losing any coverage.

fa6159dd15 qemu: Detect support for vxhs
Using the query-qmp-schema introspection - look for the 'vxhs'

NB: This is a "best effort" type situation as there is not a
mechanism to determine whether the running QEMU has been
built with '--enable-vxhs'. All we can do is check if the
option to use vxhs for a blockdev-add exists in the command

3358bfb286 qemu: Add QEMU 2.10 x86_64 the generated capabilities
For reference, these were generated by updating a local qemu git
repository to the latest upstream, making sure the latest dependencies
were met via "dnf builddep qemu" from my sufficiently privileged root
account, checking out the v2.10.0 tag, and building in order to generate
an "x86_64-softmmu/qemu-system-x86_64" image.

Then using a clean libvirt tree updated to master and built, the image
was then provided as input:

    tests/qemucapsprobe /path/to/x86_64-softmmu/qemu-system-x86_64 > \
       tests/qemucapabilitiesdata/caps_2.10.0.x86_64.replies

With the .replies file in place and the DO_TEST line added and build,
then running the following commands:

    touch tests/qemucapabilitiesdata/caps_2.10.0.x86_64.xml
    VIR_TEST_REGENERATE_OUTPUT=1 ./tests/qemucapabilitiestest

to generate tests/qemucapabilitiesdata/caps_2.10.0.x86_64.xml and both
were added to the commit.

df13c0b477 qemu: Add support for guest CPU cache
This patch maps /domain/cpu/cache element into -cpu parameters:

- <cache mode='passthrough'/> is translated to host-cache-info=on
- <cache level='3' mode='emulate'/> is transformed into l3-cache=on
- <cache mode='disable'/> is turned in host-cache-info=off,l3-cache=off

Any other <cache> element is forbidden.

The tricky part is detecting whether QEMU supports the CPU properties.

The 'host-cache-info' property is introduced in v2.4.0-1389-ge265e3e480,
earlier QEMU releases enabled host-cache-info by default and had no way
to disable it. If the property is present, it defaults to 'off' for any
QEMU until at least 2.9.0.

The 'l3-cache' property was introduced later by v2.7.0-200-g14c985cffa.
Earlier versions worked as if l3-cache=off was passed. For any QEMU
until at least 2.9.0 l3-cache is 'off' by default.

QEMU 2.9.0 was the first release which supports probing both properties
by running device-list-properties with typename=host-x86_64-cpu. Older
QEMU releases did not support device-list-properties command for CPU
devices. Thus we can't really rely on probing them and we can just use
query-cpu-model-expansion QMP command as a witness.

Because the cache property probing is only reliable for QEMU >= 2.9.0
when both are already supported for quite a few releases, we let QEMU
report an error if a specific cache mode is explicitly requested. The
other mode (or both if a user requested CPU cache to be disabled) is
explicitly turned off for QEMU >= 2.9.0 to avoid any surprises in case
the QEMU defaults change. Any older QEMU already turns them off so not
doing so explicitly does not make any harm.

385c1cc96c qemu: Check non-migratable host CPU features
CPU features which change their value from disabled to enabled between
two calls to query-cpu-model-expansion (the first with no extra
properties set and the second with 'migratable' property set to false)
can be marked as enabled and non-migratable in qemuMonitorCPUModelInfo.

Since the code consuming qemuMonitorCPUModelInfo currently ignores the
migratable flag, this change is effectively changing the CPU model
advertised in domain capabilities to contain all features (even those
which block migration). And this matches what we do for QEMU older than
2.9.0, when we detect all CPUID bits ourselves without asking QEMU.

As a result of this change

    <cpu mode='host-model'>
      <feature name='invtsc' policy='require'/>
    </cpu>

will work with all QEMU versions. Such CPU definition would be forbidden
with QEMU >= 2.9.0 without this patch.

bb3363c90b qemu: Use full CPU model expansion on x86
The static CPU model expansion is designed to return only canonical
names of all CPU properties. To maintain backwards compatibility libvirt
is stuck with different spelling of some of the features, but we need to
use the full expansion to get the additional spellings. In addition to
returning all spelling variants for all properties the full expansion
will contain properties which are not guaranteed to be migration
compatible. Thus, we need to combine both expansions. First we need to
call the static expansion to limit the result to migratable properties.
Then we can use the result of the static expansion as an input to the
full expansion to get both canonical names and their aliases.

call query-cpu-definitions in both KVM and TCG mode to get all data we
want.

Tests in tests/domaincapstest.c are temporarily switched to TCG to avoid
having to squash even more stuff into this single patch. They will all
be switched back later in separate commits.

36e9b16e24 tests: qemucaps: Add QMP introspection data for qemu 2.6.0 on aarch64 gicv3
Add QMP schema data query for aarch64. The gic capabilities are
unfortunately queried after the QMP schema and thus this patch needs to
undo the temporary removal of the declared support for query-qmp-schema.

Note that as a gicv3 machine was not available the schema data is taken
from the gicv2 case. It should be identical since qemu would be built
from the same source.

70c7025d3b qemu: capabilities: Add support for QMP schema introspection
Allow detecting capabilities according to the qemu QMP schema. This is
necessary as sometimes the availability of certain options depends on
the presence of a field in the schema.

This patch adds support for loading the QMP schema when detecting qemu
capabilities and adds a very simple query language to allow traversing
the schema and selecting a certain element from it.

The infrastructure in this patch uses a query path to set a specific
capability flag according to the availability of the given element in
the schema.

Remove the command from the supported commands list temporarily so that

code is special as it calls additional commands and thus the test data
can't be added upfront.

6869428c12 qemu_capabilities: check for existence of virtio-vga
Commit 21373feb added support for primary virtio-vga device but it was
checking for virtio-gpu. Let's check for existence of virtio-vga if we
want to use it.

Virtio video device is currently represented by three different models
*virtio-gpu-device*, *virtio-gpu-pci* and *virtio-vga*. The first two
models are tied together and if virtio video devices is compiled in they
both exist. However, the *virtio-vga* model doesn't have to exist on
some architectures even if the first two models exist. So we cannot
group all three together.

05af6784b1 qemu_capabilities: mark QEMU_CAPS_VGA_QXL capability as deprecated
If QEMU in question supports QMP, this capability is set if
QEMU_CAPS_DEVICE_QXL was set based on existence of "-device qxl". If
libvirt needs to parse *help*, because there is no QMP support, it
checks for existence of "-vga qxl", but it also parses output of
"-device ?" and sets QEMU_CAPS_DEVICE_QXL too.

Now that libvirt supports only QEMU that has "-device" implemented it's
safe to drop this capability and stop using it.

34a4447bd4 qemu_capabilities: join capabilities for qxl and qxl-vga devices
This patch simplifies QEMU capabilities for QXL video device. QEMU
exposes this device as *qxl-vga* and *qxl* and they are both the same
device with the same set of parameters, the only difference is that
*qxl-vga* includes VGA compatibility.

Based on QEMU code they are tied together so it's safe to check only for
presence of only one of them.

This patch also removes an invalid test case "video-qxl-sec-nodevice"
where there is only *qxl-vga* device and *qxl* device is not present.

5dee668632 qemu: fix command line building for iommu devices
The intel-iommu device has existed since QEMU 2.2.0, but
it was only possible to create it with -device since
QEMU 2.7.0, thanks to:

  commit 621d983a1f9051f4cfc3f402569b46b77d8449fc
  Author: Marcel Apfelbaum <marcel@redhat.com>
  Date: Mon Jun 27 18:38:34 2016 +0300

    hw/iommu: enable iommu with -device

Use the standard '-device intel-iommu' to create the IOMMU device.
The legacy '-machine,iommu=on' can still be used.

The libvirt capability check & command line formatting code
is thus broken for all QEMU versions 2.2.0 -> 2.6.0 inclusive.

This fixes it to use iommu=on instead.
