libxl: Support PV consoles
Currently the driver only exposes the ability to connect to the serial console of a Xen guest, which doesn't work for a PV guest. Since for an HVM guest the serial devices are duplicated as consoles it is sufficient to just use the console devices unconditionally. Tested with the following bit of config XML: <domain type='xen'> ... <devices> <console type='pty'> <target type='xen'/> </console> </devices> </domain> I have observed and tested this on ARM but I believe it also applies to x86 PV guests. LibVirt : simple API for virtualization Libvirt is a C toolkit to interact with the virtualization capabilities of recent versions of Linux (and other OSes). It is free software available under the GNU Lesser General Public License. Virtualization of the Linux Operating System means the ability to run multiple instances of Operating Systems concurrently on a single hardware system where the basic resources are driven by a Linux instance. The library aim at providing long term stable C API initially for the Xen paravirtualization but should be able to integrate other virtualization mechanisms if needed.
