Currently, we're loading and parsing the xml from the input file, and then formatting it and then comparing it directly back to the input file. This works for now, but is severely limiting as it relies on the input file being fully-specified and in the exact order as the output xml format. If optional elements are ommitted in the input XML, the output xml may include default values for the ommitted elements and thus the output will not match the input. In order to allow more flexibility in testing, save the expected output to a seprate 'out' directory similar to what most of the other xml2xml tests are already doing. Libvirt API for virtualization
Libvirt provides a portable, long term stable C API for managing the virtualization technologies provided by many operating systems. It includes support for QEMU, KVM, Xen, LXC, bhyve, Virtuozzo, VMware vCenter and ESX, VMware Desktop, Hyper-V, VirtualBox and the POWER Hypervisor.
For some of these hypervisors, it provides a stateful management daemon which runs on the virtualization host allowing access to the API both by non-privileged local users and remote users.
Layered packages provide bindings of the libvirt C API into other languages including Python, Perl, PHP, Go, Java, OCaml, as well as mappings into object systems such as GObject, CIM and SNMP.
