Libvirt provides a portable, long term stable C API for managing the
virtualization technologies provided by many operating systems. It
includes support for QEMU, KVM, Xen, LXC, bhyve, Virtuozzo, VMware
vCenter and ESX, VMware Desktop, Hyper-V, VirtualBox and the POWER
Hypervisor.

Right now, a caller waiting for a child process either requires the child to have status 0, or must use WIFEXITED() and friends itself. But in many cases, we want the middle ground of treating fatal signals as an error, and directly accessing the normal exit value without having to use WEXITSTATUS(), in order to easily detect an expected non-zero exit status. This adds the middle ground to the low-level virProcessWait; the next patch will add it to virCommand. * src/util/virprocess.h (virProcessWait): Alter signature. * src/util/virprocess.c (virProcessWait): Add parameter. (virProcessRunInMountNamespace): Adjust caller. * src/util/vircommand.c (virCommandWait): Likewise. * src/util/virfile.c (virFileAccessibleAs): Likewise. * src/lxc/lxc_container.c (lxcContainerHasReboot) (lxcContainerAvailable): Likewise. * daemon/libvirtd.c (daemonForkIntoBackground): Likewise. * tools/virt-login-shell.c (main): Likewise. * tools/virsh-domain.c (cmdLxcEnterNamespace): Likewise. * tests/testutils.c (virtTestCaptureProgramOutput): Likewise. * tests/commandtest.c (test23): Likewise. LibVirt : simple API for virtualization Libvirt is a C toolkit to interact with the virtualization capabilities of recent versions of Linux (and other OSes). It is free software available under the GNU Lesser General Public License. Virtualization of the Linux Operating System means the ability to run multiple instances of Operating Systems concurrently on a single hardware system where the basic resources are driven by a Linux instance. The library aim at providing long term stable C API initially for the Xen paravirtualization but should be able to integrate other virtualization mechanisms if needed.
