virCPUUpdate check the CPU definition for features that were marked as
removed in the specified CPU model and explicitly adds those that were
not mentioned in the definition. So far such features were added with
VIR_CPU_FEATURE_DISABLE policy, but the caller may want to use a
different policy in some situations, which is now possible via the
removedPolicy parameter.

DO_TEST_CPUID(arch, host, json) is a multipart test. It consists of the
following tests:
- cpuTestHostCPUID()
- cpuTestGuestCPUID(with JSON_* flag)
- cpuTestCPUIDSignature()
- DO_TEST_JSON():
- if json==JSON_MODELS:
- cpuTestGuestCPUID(without JSON_* flag)
- cpuTestJSONCPUID()
- cputestJSONSignature()
Notice that for tests with json==JSON_MODELS, cpuTestGuestCPUID() is
actually called twice but with different arguments. The first one passes
JSON_MODELS to the test function, while the second one passes 0.
The main difference in behavior when calling cpuTestGuestCPUID() with or
without the flag is that in the first case, it parses the captured qemu
output from $ARCH-cpuid-$CPU.json. It extracts the cpu model list from
that JSON, and uses that to filter out possible cpu models to match.
In other words, it tries to match the cpu to a model that was supported
by the qemu version that was used to generate this JSON file. When it
finds a match, it generates a cpu definition and compares the xml form
of that definition with the file $ARCH-cpuid-$CPU-guest.xml.
When called without the JSON_MODELS flag, it simply attempts to match it
against the full libvirt cpu map and doesn't attempt to filter out any
matches based on the JSON qemu cpu model list. After it finds a match,
it generates an xml definition for the cpu and compares it to the same
file listed above. So if these two invocations disagree on the cpu match
(e.g. because libvirt has added a cpu model to its cpu map that matches
better than one that was supported by the version of qemu that generated
the JSON file) the test will fail.
This duplicate call to cpuTestGuestCPUID() was originally added in
commit 49c945a6f5. The original
justification for that commit was to fix test failures when the Qemu
driver was disabled. But since DO_TEST_JSON() is #defined empty when
qemu is disabled, this particular invocation would not even be executed
in this scenario, so it doesn't seem relevant.

The allocation of the object itself can't fail. What can fail is the
creation of the class on a programming error. Rather than punting the
error up the stack abort() directly on the first occurence as the error
can't be fixed during runtime.

Even though several CPU models from various vendors are reported as
usable on a given host, user may still want to use only those that match
the host vendor. Currently the only place where users can check the
vendor of each CPU model is our CPU map, which is considered internal
and users should not really be using it directly. So to allow for such
filtering we now advertise the vendor of each CPU model in domain
capabilities.

A helper that resets the log before each test and prints
it on failure.
It also takes the return variable as an argument,
so it can be used to eliminate number of branches

Historically, we declared pointer type to our types:
typedef struct _virXXX virXXX;
typedef virXXX *virXXXPtr;
But usefulness of such declaration is questionable, at best.
Unfortunately, we can't drop every such declaration - we have to
carry some over, because they are part of public API (e.g.
virDomainPtr). But for internal types - we can do drop them and
use what every other C project uses 'virXXX *'.
This change was generated by a very ugly shell script that
generated sed script which was then called over each file in the

QEMU has the ability to mark CPUs as deprecated. This should be exposed
to management applications in the domain capabilities.
This attribute is only set when the model is actually deprecated.

The CPU should be identified as EPYC-Rome, but the QEMU binary used to
gather the original test data did not support this model. Let's update

The files contained the "-invalid" marker in their filename, marking
them as test cases that are supposed to fail in the virschematest.
Unfortunately, the "-invalid" marker does not discriminate between
different tests the files might be used in.
A later patch will introduce a new test validating the XML. This
test is not supposed to fail, as the files contain valid XML.

"VIR_CONNECT_CPU_VALIDATE_XML", that governs XML document validation in
virCPUDefParseXML.
In src/conf/cpu_conf.c, include configmake.h for PKGDATADIR and

To prevent unexpected situations where a change in code would stop
looking at some of the tested commands go unnoticed add a mechanism to
force consumption of all test items.
Since there are a few tests which would be hard to fix add also a
mechanism to opt-out of the check.

Annoyingly there was no existing constructor, and identifying all the

Rather than returning a direct pointer the list stored in qemuCaps the
function now creates a new copy of the CPU models list.
The main purpose of this seemingly useless change is to update callers
to free the result returned by virQEMUCapsGetCPUDefinitions because the
internals of this function will change significantly in the following
patches.
